Hello - if you’re new here - welcome! I’m Sara and this is the community I’m building for women doing life and business their way. It still feels far too counter cultural for my liking to be a woman AND a business owner who wants to be financially secure. Here, we normalise talking about it so fear doesn’t end up derailing your plans. I want you to have the exact life YOU want, not a modified, shrunken, “more realistic” version. Subscribe for regular chats on women claiming more for themselves, stepping into greater levels of personal power, and finding a way to do life that works for you xx
CELEBRATING WITH CRUMPETS
I’m writing to you from the train! Bloody love a train. Love whizzing past fields and through stations I can’t quite decipher the name of while daydreaming and looking out of the window. Love choosing snacks for the journey. Love the ideas that come from being on them. Love it all. I’m travelling up to Newcastle and on this one, they are handing out freshly toasted buttery crumpets! What witchery is this? How do the good people of LNER know I like to celebrate every major milestone with delicious carbs dripping in Lurpak? Yep, we are celebrating, folks, and I’ll tell you for why.
Over the weekend, I found out that there are now 100 reviews for my book More Sales Please - my guide to making more sales from the time you spend online. This feels huge. ONE HUNDRED people have taken the time to provide honest opinions, share stories of sales made straight after implementing, of feeling re motivated after a sales slump and of highlighter pens running out from all the annotating. I couldn’t love hearing it more because honestly, one of my biggest fears when writing the book (hi, imposter syndrome) was that it wouldn’t find it’s way to its intended readers.
THANK YOU INTERNET FOR HELPING ME SPREAD THE WORLD!
This message arrived in my DMs this morning and made my day:
Whether 100 reviews sounds to you like a little or a lot, I’m really proud of myself. If I’m able to help 100 women demystify how to make sales doing what they love, I feel like we’re on the cusp of a movement over here! 100 women proving to themselves what they are capable of, 100 women finding their confidence showing up online, 100 women stepping into new levels of financial power and this is just the start.
I have no idea how many actual books have been sold, and even if I did, it wouldn’t actually make a difference to how I feel in this moment, because shifting paper isn’t the number one goal for me. I didn’t write the book to sell the most copies everrrr or to become a Sunday Times Bestseller or any of those things that are actually kind of distracting to me.
I wrote it because I believe that when women step into their power, amazing things happen. And in business, you need to feel a certain level of power around the way you sell so that you can be sure you’re doing it in a way that’s aligned with your values. Sales skills are how you make sure your business makes money while you stay sane. Your business relies on your level of power and how much ease you feel about selling whatever it is you’re selling, and that’s just a fact.
It’s not supposed to feel icky or sleazy or pushy or conniving: those are stereotypes and setbacks that hold women back every single day from becoming more financially secure and they grind. My. Gears.
Sales should feel as natural and automatic as brushing your teeth when you wake up in the morning. And the more ease I can bring you around that, the better off women owned businesses will be.
So, I celebrate every woman who messages me to tell me they are enjoying how down to earth the book is. How well written it is. And how refreshing it is to read a book that is written by a woman, for the women-owned small business community who are as much about doing good as they are about making money. Writing it was one thing. But getting it into the hands of as many women with businesses as possible and watching you find your ease with the way you bring clients in, make money and grow without the grind is the fun bit.
FUN BIT OF SPONTENAITY - HARK AT ME!
On something of a whim, I’ve packed five copies of the book into my case to give away for free at Atomicon to anyone I meet who is ready to power up their sales. If you’re coming and you’d like one, come and find me and I’ll give you a free copy, no questions asked!
Gifting free copies feels like a fun and perfect way for me to celebrate hitting 100 reviews and I’m excited to meet some new people. Will anyone actually want a copy? Will I end up bringing them all the way back home with me on Wednesday?! Who knows! I’ll report back with how I get on…
EASE AND THE UNIVERSE
For some time now, ease has been a core focus area for me. A few months back, I ran a free 2-day masterclass series with the specific aim of showing more of the women in my world how to take control of the level of ease you experience in business.
I *love* talking about choosing ease in business because if you can’t choose it here, where can you eh? If we want to have a business that’s centred around ease, there are 3 things to focus on, which I break down in the class. I wanted to share how to make this your best season yet, and it was the perfect livener for over 100 of you who signed up! I got such lovely feedback about how useful it was, and those of you who attended live LOVED the breakdown I gave so that no matter what stage of business you’re at, you know the core pillars that keep your growth happening without flipping into overwhelm.
(If you’d like to have a listen, you can download it for free HERE.)
I love having honest conversations about the collective experiences we have as women growing businesses on our own terms. For some reason, we still aren’t having nearly enough open and honest chats about how we all can benefit from ease in our lives. I think we all feel like we “should” know what we’re doing, so we are afraid to speak about the things that don’t come “naturally”?
Or perhaps it’s more to do with the fact that women are so often pitted against each other, it can feel hard to put your hand up and say what you really think, for fear of being judged about it.
Whatever it is, I love having the space to tuck into what is really going on for us, and to connect with women who’d much rather figure things out in community than all by ourselves.

HOW TO GET OUT OF A SALES SLUMP
Whether you’re launching a book, a new course, selling products or services, your job is to talk about what you’re selling and why. Now is *the perfect* time to share your brilliant products with the world. If you need to refocus after a break, here are some pointers I use often to help my clients get back into action.
If I was planning a surge of sales, had something new launching or wanted to get out of a slump this is exactly what I’d be focussing on:
1. Showing up regularly to build a community of people who actually know what you do and for whom.
2. Creating content that shares with them your beliefs, your values, your thoughts so that genuine relationships can form
3. Talking about offers that you’re actually excited about because they’re built around work you LOVE, not work you think you should love (you would not believe how many people are not doing this!)
4. Tell your audience - whether that’s 10 people or 1000 or 100000 - what your offers actually do for them and what they can expect from buying them
5. Prioritise selling every single day. No tapping out. It’s the only way to make money a certainty in your business. Everyday selling takes a few minutes and will change your whole life! I teach you how in my book, of course ;)
6. Ensure momentum in your business by committing to your income goal for 90 days straight. Don’t give up even if you don’t see results straight away. Momentum compounds and when you commit to daily non negotiable, everything stacks in your favour!
7. Get really good at the basics of online business before trying to go any further. Learning how to package, market and sell out one or two offers before creating 10 other things that also won’t sell if you skip this step.
This is exactly how I teach my clients to hit their financial goals with ease. You don’t need fancy funnels, complex systems, a big audience or anything else that’s just a distraction from the real thing you need: a solid sales habit.
What are you waiting for? Go go go!
Big love and sales,
Sara x
Wow crumpets on the train! I wonder if that’s a regular thing, I hope so, as I’ll be getting that train up to Edinburgh in August, I hope it’s accompanied by lashings of buttered crumpets! 😃
Good luck with the retreat, how exciting! 👏👏😘
Ooh so tempted by the retreat! This email lands at a good time as I’m getting back in my sales strategy tomorrow 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
