This was such a refreshing read darl, and gave me a big ol' smile reflecting on all the things posting online gave me in return too 🥲 I was waiting for you to make a whole number in your list about 'Posting online made me meet Kerry Lyons' but alas, my bowl doth remains empty 😂 (messing, but love ya, and love this) x
How could I forget the most important one of all! Your bowl couldn’t BE less empty my lovely friend, THANK YOU INTERNET for bringing us together! Oh, the laughs we’ve had :-)
Love this. Particularly the point about becoming braver. I think when we’re speaking about something we’re truly passionate about, the fear (sort of) goes away. I’ve started to notice this as I shift towards work that truly aligns with me. I used to be terrified of speaking in front of my colleagues in my old job, but if I’m speaking about something creative or something I’ve written, I feel completely different.
It’s funny to think back and to realise how much braver posting on the internet has made me. Not exactly a well recognised effect, I don’t think. So in a world where social media gets a lot of flack, it’s worth realising it has given so much, to so many, too. And gosh yes, the DREAD I would feel at having to speak up in meetings - I did it anyway but can now see it just felt mis-aligned. You are so wise Hannah! X
It’s nice to celebrate - I think I’ll do it more. And of course I’m celebrating meeting YOU, our fantastic co-working days together and the fact that you persuaded me to sign up for the book proposal challenge that made me an author! THANK YOU Lee, I have you to thank for some of my favourite memories xxx
